Tax Dispute Involving Reform UK Deputy Leader
Tice £91,000 tax row is 'minor administrative error', party claims
Party Response to Tax Allegations
Reform UK has described a row over tax paid by deputy leader Richard Tice's property company as a minor administrative error. The company failed to pay £91,000 in tax before dividends were paid to Tice and his offshore trust according to reports.
Tice who is the Boston and Skegness MP called the failure a technicality. He stated that overall HMRC received the correct amount of tax due. The company Quidnet REIT Limited invests in property and is controlled by Tice.
Details of the Reported Issue
Reports indicated the company did not pay the required 20 per cent levy on dividends before channelling profits to Tice and his trust registered in Jersey. Reform UK's home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf conceded it was a minor administrative error but described the matter as a non story.
Yusuf explained that any underpaid tax by the company would have been overpaid by Tice himself through income tax. This resulted in HMRC netting off the same overall amount.
Reactions from Other Parties
Labour described the situation as a major scandal that goes to the heart of Tice's integrity and credibility. A Labour spokesperson said Tice urgently needs to explain whether his business followed the law and paid the full tax owed.
Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey called for Tice to be sacked describing the situation as morally completely indefensible.

Tice posted on X stating the reporting showed HMRC received the correct tax overall. He suggested the story was complaining that he paid too much tax personally rather than the company paying on his behalf.
The dispute has drawn attention to the tax arrangements of senior Reform UK figures following previous reports on related matters.
